The four-figure field in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event has been whittled down to a final table of nine with two big online players in contention for their first bracelet despite being at the bottom of the chip counts. Former Brunson 10 member David Sands and 2 Months, 2 Million star Emil Patel are eighth and ninth in the counts respectively.

Just six players returned for Day 4 of the $1,500 NL event with Foster Hays leading the chip counts. He held that lead all the way to the end of the tournament, save for one brief moment during heads-up when he relinquished it to runner-up Casey Kelton. After the last hand, the two players had such similar stacks a re-count was required three times to determine the winner.

A huge field of 606 players signed up for the $1,500 Stud 8 or Better event yesterday, proving that poker players will give any game a shot if the buy in is less than a couple of grand. That field has been reduced to just 172 after a day of play with Cyndy Violette taking the chip lead – alphabetically, at least.

Nineteen events in and only three British bracelets? I can’t help but think they’re slacking. Darren Woods has secured Blighty’s third wrist-decoration of the 2011 WSOP after taking down the $2,500 Limit Hold ‘em 6-max event for $213,431. He beat Kim Nguyen heads-up which marks the second time a woman has been heads-up for a bracelet after Maria Ho this WSOP.

The somewhat controversial ten hour rule at the 2011 WSOP means that after ten hours, play is done for the day regardless of where we are in the tournament. Such is the case at the $1,500 No Limit final table where just six of the final nine remain at the end of Day 3.

The second day of the $1,000 No Limit event has concluded with 39 players of a 3,175 field remaining and Jason Somerville leading the way over WPT Champion Tim West, having bagged up 749,000 after flopping a pair and a flush draw against top pair and getting there for a half million plus pot.

Eight blind levels with a game apiece later and Day 1 of the $2,500 8-Game Mix event is done and dusted with 248 of a 489-strong field left in contention, 200 of whom still need to be busted out to burst the money bubble.

A field of over a thousand players entered the $1,500 PLO event yesterday and after ten blind levels just 117 remain in contention with the money bubble burst before the end of one day – that’s Omaha variance for you. Two champions of this event – Jason Mercier and Tex Barch – both busted before the bubble.

The second of what the poker world has affectionately dubbed the “Weekend Donkaments” began yesterday with a huge 3,175-strong field putting up $1,000 apiece to compete in Event #20 of the World Series of Poker 2011. After Day 1 just 342 contenders remain with Lex Veldhuis third in the chip counts heading into the money.

The $10,000 Seven-Card Stud Championship began yesterday with a stacked field of 126 taking to the Rio to try and seize one of the most traditionally-coveted bracelets in the WSOP. Despite losing the likes of Michael Mizrachi, Huck Seed, Alex Kravchenko and Eugene Katchalov there are still a whole host of big names remaining.
