The 765-strong field in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold ‘em event has been vanquished courtesy of Brian “tsarrast” Rast after he defeated Allen Kessler heads-up for what would be either player’s first bracelet. This marked Kessler’s fourth WSOP runner-up spot making him the new Andy Bloch.

The $2,500 Limit Hold ‘em 6-max event attempts to make Limit Hold ‘em exciting by reducing the number of players. Evidently it worked to an extent as Richard Lyndaker, the online cash game grinder better known as “nutsinho”, is towards the top of the chip counts with two tables remaining.

One of the most popular non-Hold ‘em events (well, one-fifth Hold ‘em) on the World Series of Poker schedule has concluded with the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event receiving a 963-strong field and a prize pool of more than $1.3m. In the end, Aaron Steury joined the list of new bracelet-winners after beating Michael Chow heads-up.

Well we didn't see this one coming. Phil Hellmuth has won all 11 of his World Series of Poker bracelets in varieties of hold'em so to see him go deep in the $10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship was something of a surprise.

After three days and over a full 24 hours of poker, David Diaz has won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in the $1,500 NL Triple Chance event, taking home $351,808 for the victory over Anders Meli heads-up. Did he expect this win? “Actually,” Diaz said. “I expect to win two.”

The kind of player that makes us glad we simply write rather than attempt to pronounce these names has just beaten George Lind heads-up to the $10,000 Omaha 8 Championship and the first prize of $465,216.

The second day of the $1,500 NL Shootout has concluded with a sweet sixteen remaining, among them five WSOP bracelet-winners including David Pham who boasts a $2,000 NL Shootout title from previous years. He is joined by Dan Kelly, Erik Cajelais, Frank Kassela and Vitaly Lunkin.

The field for the $10,000 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw event attracted a field of 126 players, 25 more than 2010, to give us a $1.2m prize pool. The increased attendance is no surprise given the recent popularity of Draw games online – speaking of which, online tournament crusher Shaun Deeb is second in chips.

The first four-figure Pot Limit Hold ‘em event of the World Series of Poker kicked off with a huge 765-strong field turning out to give us a seven-figure prize pool and a first place cash of $227,232 plus the gold. Leading the field with 88 remaining and heading into the money is WSOPE 2010 third-place finisher Ronald Lee.

The first shootout event of the WSOP has begun with a turnout of 1,440 players now reduced to 160 after a gruelling series of single-table tournaments in which the winners of each table progress to the next round. All 160 winners have locked up $4,998 but tomorrow is where they play for the big money.
