The relatively-uncool $1,500 Stud 8 final table garnered quite a lot of attention last night as Mike Sexton featured, passing the million dollar milestone in WSOP earnings and going for his second career bracelet as well as the $200,459.

Mark Radoja has beaten four tables of world-class players (and probably a few fish too) in order to capture his first bracelet in the $5,000 NL Shootout event; he beat Jeffrey Gross heads-up to secure the title and a first prize of $436,568 alongside the wristwear.

Not ten minutes after writing the above headline, Matthew Gallin took the chip lead at the $10,000 Limit Hold ‘em Championship. Aria Poker Room ambassador and constantly broke-then-staked-then-broke-again roll-on-the-table mixed games player Jean-Robert Bellande is always Tweeting about the huge swings in his bankroll. He’s in line for a big upswing if he keeps this up as he is second place in the 189-strong field in Event #26.

Despite a strong UK presence in the final 40 we’ve conceded this event to the Yanks with James Dempsey, Toby Lewis, JP Kelly and James Akenhead busting short of the final ten. Adam Junglen and Tom Marchese lead the online contingent while Todd Terry joins them in a US-dominated final table.

The French are now just one behind our bracelet total for the 2011 WSOP, though we consider it quite unfair that they have ElkY. Elie Payan has won the $1,500 PLO event to give France their second bracelet in as many days plus a tasty first prize touching $300k.

Daniel Negreanu might not have won his fifth bracelet yet – though mysterious Tweets about invoking an ancient source of luck give him hope for the $10k Limit Hold ‘em tomorrow – but he lived vicariously through his friend and PokerVT colleague Jason Somerville who beat Yashar Darian heads-up to win the $1,000 No Limit Hold ‘em title and almost $500k.
