While the action slowed down a little on Day 7 of the Main Event, it was fast and furious enough to reduce a field of 57 to just 22 – along the way we lost some big names but kept some others alive.

Day 6 of the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event began with just 142 of the 6,865 entrants remaining in contention, all guaranteed a five-figure payday but looking to become one of eight millionaires made at the final table. That dream died for almost 100 players as we are left with 57 returning for Day 7, led by Ryan Lenaghan with a huge 12,000,000 in chips.

An action-packed day at The Rio saw over a thousand players hit the rail on the first combined field day of the WSOP Main Event. Of the 1,864 that entered the room on Day 3, just 852 would leave with chip stacks to come back to tomorrow.

Fears about turnouts for the 2011 World Series of Poker were assuaged long ago when records began to be broken – hell, almost a thousand people registered for a Limit Omaha 8 event! However, it has been confirmed that the 42nd annual World Series of Poker is also the biggest in history with a prize pool of $191,999,010.

The first of the Day 2s has been completed at the World Series of Poker Main Event with 2,031 players beginning the day and 991 surviving to meet up with the Day 2b survivors on Wednesday. Leading the way into Day 3 is Aleksandr Mozhnyakov, who has built up a stack of 478,600 – good for more than 300 big blinds when we resume on Day 3.

The numbers are in and the opening flights are done at The Rio. The World Series of Poker 42nd annual $10,000 No Limit Hold ‘em Championship Main Event is done and dusted for Days 1a through 1d with a total field of 6,865 shocking the poker community. The post-Black Friday field is the third largest in WSOP history, second only to 2010 and 2006.

As expected, the third opening flight of the 2011 WSOP Main Event was a biggie with a massive 2,181 players ponying up the $10,000 buy-in. 1,360 will be back for Day 2 with Kevin Song heading the leader board on 163,325, just ahead of Chris McLung on 162,375.
