WSOP Main Event Day 5 Complete in Record Time
WSOP Main Event Day 5 Complete in Record Time

It has taken a working week but there are now less than 200 players left in the World Series of Poker Main Event. After over 400 players entered the Amazon Room to compete in Day 5, only 185 emerge as still in with a shout. The last person to be eliminated was Lou Diamond Phillips, and it shows the magnitude of this tournament that a player can finish 185th and still receive almost $40,000.

“Yeah, it’s been a good month. Besides the HORSE tournament, I was a little disappointed about that.” Although those don’t sound like the words of a man who has won two WSOP bracelets, almost $400,000 prize money and anywhere from $3m to a reputed $14m in prop bets, that’s what Ivey thinks of his WSOP.
