Phil Ivey on the WSOP Main Event.

“Yeah, it’s been a good month. Besides the HORSE tournament, I was a little disappointed about that.” Although those don’t sound like the words of a man who has won two WSOP bracelets, almost $400,000 prize money and anywhere from $3m to a reputed $14m in prop bets, that’s what Ivey thinks of his WSOP.

He also spoke about an event we reported yesterday about his refusal to move to the featured TV table: “I had been playing poker for about 48 hours and came straight from Bobby’s Room [to play the Main Event]. So I just wanted to get my music on and psyche myself up and not be bothered by the TV cameras and whatnot.

“I don’t mind the spectators, I don’t mind the cameras like some people seem to think I do but on Day 1 I just didn’t want any of that.”

He also revealed that the action doesn’t stop at the WSOP – in Bobby’s Room they are playing $1,000/$2,000 Pot-Limit Omaha and other games including Triple Draw.
