WSOP Main Event – Day 2b Concludes

Thursday, 9 July 2009

A little less than 3,000 players from Days 1c and 1d of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event entered Day 2b hoping to survive another round in the giant halls of the Rio. Of the 2,924 that entered, 1,486 survived to fight another day.

Troy Weber, who started the day as a massive chip leader with 353,000 when no one else had made it above 200k, maintained that lead to finish the day with just over 450,000 in his stack.

Also in contention is Phil Ivey, who is currently sixth in chips and looking to make his third 2009 bracelet THE bracelet. David Benyamine, Justin Bonomo, ElkY and Dan Harrington all pulled through also.

Some of the bigger names that couldn’t make it to Day 3 were Erick Lindgren, Shannon Shorr, Victor Ramdin, Vanessa Rousso, Scotty Nguyen and Howard Lederer.

Players will resume their slog on July 10th.
