Biography

The Hendon Mob’s Joe Beevers began his gambling a career as part of a father and son blackjack team before graduating to poker, and began travelling the country playing tournaments with his fellow mobsters. Quick to recognise the potential of TV poker, Beevers played in every series of Late Night Poker. He also finished as the runner-up to Jimmy White in the 2003 Poker Million, winning the event outright in 2007 for £1m. His nickname “The Elegance” was bestowed on him by ex girlfriend Victoria Coren in an article for the Evening Standard in 2000.
