Event #2 - Grinder leads $50k Players' Championship

Monday, 31 May 2010

54 players were still in the hunt for the $1,559,046 first prize going into day three of the $50k buy-in Players' Championship and by the close only 21 were left.

One player who could certainly do with the money is Michael Mizrachi. As we reported earlier this month, The Grinder has been suffering from some financial difficulties of late but he hasn't let that distract him, working his way up to the top of the chip counts in the biggest by-in event at this year's World Series.

Joining him at the top of the leader board are Russia's Vladimir Schmelev, David Oppenheim, Abe Mosseri, Daniel Alaei and older brother Robert Mizrachi.

High profile casualties included Barry Greenstein, Noah Boeken, Scotty Nguyen, Jeff Lisandro, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson and defending champion David Bach.

The bubble will burst when play resumes later today with the top 16 finishers making the money. Join us tomorrow to see who's in the money.
