WPT National Madrid starts today

WPT National Madrid starts today

Thursday, 28 June 2012

Las Vegas is obviously the centre of the poker universe at the moment but there is plenty of decent tournament action to found elsewhere, none more so than in Madrid which plays host to the latest leg of the World Poker Tour National Series.

The Spanish capital's Gran Casino is the venue for the five-day event which gets under way this afternoon. The first of two opening flights for the €1.5k Main Event starts at 2pm local time with Day 1B starting at the same time tomorrow. Players will start with 20,000 chips with a 60-minute clock.

There's plenty of side action scheduled alongside the Main Event including turbo, bounty and dealer's choice events.

The last WPT National event in Spain proved to be a biggie with Dutch pro Patrick de Koster outlasting a record-breaking field in Marbella in April to take home a first prize of €150,000.
