Patrick de Koster wins WPT National Series Marbella

Thursday, 26 April 2012

Costa del Sol saw the final table of the WPT National Series Marbella play out on Tuesday with 888poker pro Patrick de Koster beating a record field to chop the first and second place prizes with Englishman Pete Linton.

After German MTT specialist Daniel Keller was eliminated in 8th place, de Koster dominated to eliminate every player at the table on his way to playing Pete Linton heads-up. The two cut a deal before the action concluded, when Linton shoved Kd-Td and was called by de Koster’s dominating Ac-Kh. An ace-high flop ended the affair quickly.

The Dutchman adds this score to his previous live cashes of $80,000, more than trebling his live poker tournament record. The final table payouts were as follows:

“This is amazing,” said de Koster. “I’ve been thinking for some time that I have wanted to buy a small apartment and now I am able to do this. Even if I hadn’t won I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this event – it was so friendly and brilliantly organized. The only regret is I didn’t get to see more of Marbella as I have always been in the casino. I cannot really complain though!”

1 Patrick de Koster €150,000
2 Peter Linton €90,000
3 Jose Carlos Lopez €54,500
4 Phil Porter €38,800
5 Inma Marti €29,000
6 Antonio González €22,950
7 José Luis Plaza €17,200
8 Daniel Keller €12,850
