One of the perils of being a successful poker player is the unwanted attention of people wanting a share of the cash. After the robbery of former WSOP champ Jonathan Duhamel comes news of another even more disturbing incident, this time involving Theo Jorgensen.

According to a report in Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, three men entered Jorgensen's home in Greve, Denmark late on Sunday night and shot the PokerStars pro in the leg before making off with a five figure sum in Danish Kroner.

The three men were believed to have been wearing elephant masks and demanded the cash in English before shooting Jorgensen in the shin and thigh, all in front of the Dane's terrified girlfriend.

Gus Hansen told Extra Bladet, “I've talked with him (Jorgensen), and he is obviously shaken. But in the circumstances, he is happy to be alive.”

The 40-year-old is currently recovering in hospital.
