226 players gathered at the swanky Mansion House for the opening flight of UKIPT Dublin yesterday. After eight levels of action it was Noel McMahon who was out in front.

The Irishman was the only player to build a six-figure stack, bagging up an impressive 104,400 at the close. Nipping at his heels are Philipp Teipel (99,200), Mathias Puzich (98,700), Lewis Barber (98,600) and Declan Barker (97,000) who all made impressive starts.

104 players survived the day including last week's European Deepstack Champion Cathal Shine (87,600), 2011 UKIPT Dublin winner Joeri Zandvliet (81,100), 'Mad Monk' Andy Black (53,900), British Poker Award nominees Sam Grafton (29,400) and Sam Razavi (24,400) as well as Bluff's European Player of the Year Steve O'Dwyer (9,800).

Plenty more notable names are set to make their bow later today, including Liv Boeree, Jake Cody, Sam Holden, Max Silver, Sin Melin and Dermot Blain.

They'll be battling for a share of a prize pool that is guaranteed to reach €350,000 but will likely be much larger. Day 1B is already a sell out so it looks set to be a biggie.
