Neymar Joins PokerStars

It's been quite a couple of days for footballing superstar Neymar. The Brazilian scored what looks like being a decisive third goal for Barcelona in the Catalans' 3-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich and now he's joined the ranks at PokerStars.

Neymar will act as a brand ambassador, promoting the site as well as appearing in live and online events including this year's EPT Barcelona festival.

“Growing up and playing football every day has made me a competitive person. When I’m not playing football, playing poker and competing against my teammates on the road or in home games with friends is one of my favorite things to do,” said Neymar Jr.

“To be a successful poker player, you require many of the same skills needed to be a successful footballer – mental strength is important; resilience, patience, composure and focus. I love the challenge, whether it’s on the football pitch or at the poker table.”

Neymar's love of poker is well documented. He's tweeted photos from his regular home game and even took to the tables to escape Brazil's 7-1 World Cup drubbing at the hand of Germany. He was snapped alongside Brazilian poker pro Felipe "Mojave" Ramos earlier this week.

Neymar joins countryman Ronaldo in donning the PokerStars patch. Portuguese namesake Cristiano Ronaldo also Tweeted a picture of him at the poker tables earlier this week. Perhaps we'll see an El Clasico of poker sometime in the not too distant future.
