According to the producer of the NBC Heads-Up Championship, Mori Eskandani, the popular TV tournament won't be taking place this year.
Despite a successful return in 2013 following a hiatus in 2012 due to Black Friday, the celebrity shootout won't be taking place in 2014. Indeed, talking to PokerNews recently, Eskandani, the President of POKER PROductions, said TV show hasn’t been commissioned by NBC; however, he did state that the event isn’t going away completely.Although he refrained from elaborating on that point, Eskandani did say that there will be some “exciting news” later this month.Last year Mike Matusow managed to overcome a stellar field, including Phil Hellmuth in his final battle, to take the title and $750,000 and if the show doesn't return in some capacity then he'll be forever known as the National Heads-Up Champion.
