Mike Sexton’s Hall of Fame induction

Mike Sexton’s Hall of Fame induction

Tuesday, 10 November 2009

The Rio has been the scene of a few poker tournaments this year, in case you hadn’t noticed. Amid all the hubbub of Darvin Moon trying desperately to play poker and Joe Cada becoming the youngest ever World Series Champion, the Poker Hall of Fame saw a new inductee.

World Series of Poker bracelet-winner, World Poker Tour mainstay and poker ambassador Mike Sexton became the 37th member of the prestigious group that includes Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth.

Sexton said he was overwhelmed by his addition to the hall, thanking his family and also others who have helped the game to grow to the dizzying heights it is at and beyond. His amazing 30-year poker career features $3.7m in tournament earnings and his WPT commentary run alongside Vince Van Patten makes him one of poker’s most recognisable faces and voices.
