Online poker players are being offered the chance to do what many a boxer has tried and failed; knock out multiple world champion Carl Froch.

The middleweight great is taking part in a special event on December 13 to mark the launch of the new partypoker Power Series, which are to be a succession of weekly tournaments featuring reduced buy-ins alongside prize pools guaranteed to reach a total of at least $1.25 million.

“I’ve been mentally preparing for this tournament just the same as any of my world title fights,” said 38-year-old Froch.

“I intend to win and, as the ambassador for partypoker, I best not let the side down. I love the new partypoker guarantees and hope it will attract a new audience to playing poker online. The partypoker Power Series offers four buy-in levels with something for everyone, from players with flyweight bankrolls right up to the mightiest super heavyweights.

Featherweight - Buy-in: $2.20-$11. Guarantee: $194,000.

Middleweight - Buy-in: $22-$55. Guarantee: $340,000.

Heavyweight - Buy-in: $109. Guarantee: $565,000.

High-Roller - Buy-in: $350-$1,050. Guarantee: $185,000.


To qualify for the one-off tournament featuring Nottingham-born Froch, simply get playing partypoker Power Series events between now and December 6. The top 99 qualifiers will each win a seat in the special $100,000 kick-off contest on December 13.
