London bricks-and-mortar casino The Hippodrome has appointed Greg Constantinou as its new Director of Online Operations, prior to the Leicester Square venue's forthcoming partnership with online giant PokerStars.

The 38-year-old will oversee the launch next month of the Hippodrome’s new PokerStars-powered online poker site. The Hippodrome will also unveil a new PokerStars.com branded poker deck on the top floor of one of London's largest and the UK’s busiest casino.

The recently refurbished venue will play host to a selection of PokerStars’ sponsored tournaments and special events in the new year. PokerStars took a minority stakeholding in the Hippodrome Casino in October in a deal that, according to the Sunday Times, valued the property at £100m.

“Mine has to be the plum job in the online gaming world, with two of the industry’s biggest launches on the horizon,” said Canstantinou.

The Hippodrome is the brainchild of bingo hall magnate Simon Thomas and his father Jimmy. The pair spent millions on restoring the Grade II listed building to its former glory. It reopened its doors in July following a £40m facelift.
