The European Deepstack Poker Championship (EDSPC) will get underway tomorrow inside Dublin's Regency Hotel.
Running until February 8 and offering players across Europe an affordable way to enjoy a deepstack structure, the €550 event is expected to attract a bumper field when the registration desks close tomorrow evening.Since the close of 2014 a number of online sites have been running satellites for the event, however, the small stakes event will also be bolstered by the surrounding Dublin Poker Festival. Kicking off late last week, the amateur focused event has been hosting a range of small-to-mid stakes tournaments for players across Europe. On Monday the Amateur Championship of Poker Dublin event came to a close and standing at atop of the winner's rostrum when the confetti had fallen was David O'Kelly. The local grinder managed to see off the likes of Dennis Olsson, Jan Dijkstra and James Daly before skipping past Darren Millar heads-up to take the title and €15,900.For those that haven't managed to find their way to Dublin, the EDSPC's organiser, D4 Events, will be running a live stream of the final table as it did last year. In 2014 a total of 450 players bought into the MTT, but when the chips were down and the betting was over it was Cathal Shine (pictured above) who lifted the winner's trophy. Despite being flanked by a host of travelling grinders on the final table, the Irish native managed to see off their advances long enough to cut a deal worth €38,375. With his prize locked up, Shine then went on to defeat Joost Schippers of the Netherlands to claim his first EDSPC title. This season the organisers are expecting even more people to ante-up and the prizepool to top the €250,000 mark.
