EPT Deauville final table set

EPT Deauville final table set

Monday, 25 January 2010

Over the weekend we speculated that Mike ‘Timex’ McDonald becoming the first player to win two EPT Main Events was looking decidedly unlikely. The youngster started Day 3 in Deauville bottom of the chip counts in 133rd place but it looks like we may have been a little premature in writing off his chances.

It may not quite be ‘chip and chair’ territory but the 2008 German Open champion staged a fantastic comeback and sits in fifth place going into the final table.

The man to catch is Romania’s Teodor Caraba followed by the UK’s own Jake Cody. The former psychology student from Rochdale has had some excellent results online but this is his first major live final table. Also in the hunt are home favourites Stephane Albertini and Michael Fratty, American Craig Bergeron and Romanian Claudiu Secara. Bringing up the rear is 2008 WSOP Main Event champion Peter Eastgate. The Dane may only have a tenth of the stack of chip leader Caraba but after McDonald’s comeback anything is possible.

The final table chip counts are as follows:

1. Teodor Caraba (Romania) 6915000
2. Jake Cody (UK) 4650000
3. Stephane Albertini (France) 3555000
4. Craig Bergeron (USA) 3135000
5. Mike McDonald (Canada) 1815000
6. Michael Fratty (France) 1595000
7. Claudiu Secara (Romania) 795000
8. Peter Eastgate (Denmark) 695000

Join us tomorrow for the final result.
