Saturday, 31 August 2013

The big names were out in force for the opening day of the EPT Barcelona $50,000 High Roller event which got under way yesterday.

At the close of play, 39 players had combined for a total of 49 entries with Hungary's Sandor Demjan leading the way with 1,037,000 followed by former English Poker Open winner on 813,000.

The familiar figure of Daniel Negreanu is next on 619,000 with WSOP November Niner David Benefield not far behind on 552,000. There are plenty of other notable names among the 38 survivors including Steve O'Dwyer 528,000, Erik Seidel 445,000, ElkY 441,000, Daniel Alaei 426,000, Jason Mercier 309,000 and recent WPT Alpha8 winner Steven Silverman who returns as one of the short stacks with 127,000.

Entry remains open until the start of day two so precise details of the prize pool are yet to be determined. Needless to say, it's going to be big.
