Brad Pitt to star in poker related movie

Thursday, 4 November 2010

Decent poker movies are pretty thin on the ground. After Rounders there's not really much to write home about but that could be about to change with a new poker related crime comedy starring Brad Pitt.

Details are a little sketchy at present but the project, provisionally entitled Cogan's Trade, is based on a crime novel by George V Higgins. Pitt is set to play a professional enforcer who tries to work out how a robbery was carried out at a mafia protected high stakes poker game.

Andrew Dominik, who worked with Pitt on The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, will take the directing duties with Sam Rockwell, Casey Affleck, Mark Ruffalo and Javier Bardem also linked with the project.

Pitt's new feature isn't the only poker related movie news. It looks like Antonio Esfandiari will also be appearing on the big screen, this time alongside Bruce Willis and rapper 50 Cent. The Magician revealed on Twitter that he'd met movie producers and the hip hop star last week, but kept mum about any more details. Filming is expected to start in five weeks.
