The Genting Poker Series makes a very welcome return next week with the Genting Club at Star City, Birmingham the venue for the opening leg of the 2013 season.
The five-day, £400+£40 buy-in event gets underway on Thursday 6th February with a guaranteed prize pool of £100,000. “To be honest, given the way the Series grew in popularity throughout last year, I would be very disappointed if the opening leg didn’t smash last year’s Star City prize fund of £146,000,” said Gentingpoker.com manager Gary Oakes. “We enjoyed some sensational poker last year and the format remains largely unchanged with 60 minute levels and a starting stack of 25,000 chips. It means every player should see plenty of action, no matter what the standard of their game.”Qualifiers are already up and running, with seats to be won at Genting Poker, Poker Encore and Circus Poker. In-club qualifiers are being held across all Genting Casinos poker rooms. Players can register for a Genting Poker Series Main Event, or indeed any side event in many of the groups casinos across the UK. More information can be found at www.gentingpokerseries.com. The 2012 GPS easily exceeded expectations with the prize pool over the entire season topping the £1.3m mark. This season is set to be even bigger with a total of eight legs scheduled including maiden visits to Southend and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.The full series schedule is as follows:6th to 10th Feb 2013Genting Club Star City Birmingham£400 + £40£100,00021st to 24th March 2013Genting Casino Newcastle£400 + £40£100,00015th to 19th May 2013Genting Club Sheffield£400 + £40£100,00014th to 18th August 2013Genting Club Westcliff Southend£400 + £40£100,00011th to 15th September 2013Genting Club Stoke on Trent£400 + £40£100,0009th to 13th October 2013Genting Club Fountainpark Edinburgh£400 + £40£100,00017th November 2013GentingPoker.com£400 + £10£100,00012th to 15th December 2013Genting Club Sheffield£800 + £700£200,000Former Dusk Till Dawn dealer Ruslan Vlasov won the Birmingham leg of the 2012 Genting Poker Series, outlasting a field of 355-runners to walk away with a first prize of £16,600.
