Wednesday, 4 September 2013

The 2013 English Poker Open has been cancelled. Tournament sponsors RakeTheRake.com confirmed the news yesterday, blaming it on “unforeseen scheduling issues this year”. The event was due to take place at Aspers Stratford later this month.

“It was a difficult decision to postpone the EPO, but on balance we decided it was the right choice; to ensure players at the event have a top quality tournament experience, as they have come to expect from the English Poker Open brand,” said Amanda Georgeson, Marketing Director at RakeTheRake.

Organisers confirmed that the tournament will return in 2014 at an as yet unnamed location.

Danish pro Mickey Petersen won the 2012 English Poker Open after beating an absolutely stacked final table at the Fox Poker Club. The Team PokerStars pro pocketed a first prize of £78,660 after beating Poker Hall of Fame nominee Chris Bjorin heads up for the title.
