We chat with triple crown winner.

What’s the strangest thing you've ever seen happen at the poker table?

It was in Ireland, there was a fight at the table. I don't know what it was about, but all of a sudden there was a huge commotion, and there were these two guys kicking the shit out of each other. The tournament director had to get involved. It must have been a bad beat or someone had made a sarcastic comment or something, and everything just kicked off. They ended up getting chucked out of the tournament. I hope that it was because they had history together or something, otherwise I’d be scared if I ever saw them at my table again.

What’s your most treasured possession?

Probably my car, which I’m sadly going to have to sell. It’s an Audi R8. It’s a two-seater, though, so there wouldn’t be enough room for the baby when it comes. It’s sad! I have a Range Rover as well, though, so I’ll just keep that. That’s more of a family-orientated car.

Who’s your poker hero?

Hellmuth is one of my favourite people. When I first got into poker I saw him and thought he was the best player EVER. I watched all of the WSOP with him in it. I’ve always idolised him, so when I met him I was just like oh my god. He mentioned me on Twitter and I was absolutely loving it.

Can you tell us a joke?

I know one joke, and it’s terrible. Two fish are in a tank. One turns to the other, and says, “You man the guns and I’ll drive.”

What’s the most extravagant thing you’ve bought with your poker winnings?

The R8 was pretty extravagant. I also bought a hot tub with a built-in TV and music system. It’s absolutely massive, and is definitely the most ridiculous purchase I’ve ever made because it was stupidly expensive.

Do you believe in God?

I’m kind of optimistic that there is one, but logic suggests that there probably isn’t. I like to think there’s something there, but I don’t go to church or anything. I live more in hope than in belief.

What’s the biggest bluff you’ve pulled in life?

I’m actually a terrible liar, considering that I’m a poker player. People see through me straightaway. When I’m at the poker table I’m stone-faced, but in regular conversation I just fall about laughing. I just can’t lie!
