Press Release
The second Poker in the Park is set to be massive, with over 25,000 visitors expected to visit Europe’s largest poker festival
August 6, 2008 (London, UK)
Poker in the Park, Europe’s largest poker festival, is taking place in London’s Leicester Square on August 15th-16th, from 4pm - 9pm on Friday 15th and 10.30am – 6.30pm on Saturday 16th.
Building on from what began as a one-day event last summer, this year’s event is expected to fill one half of the infamous Leicester Square in London. With the north and east quadrants of the square set to be taken over by the biggest poker companies in the world, around 25,000 people are expected to attend the event.
The centre of attention is sure to be the PKR-sponsored ‘Poker Dome’, which will be set on the north side of Leicester Square and will be home to almost a dozen poker tables, each with professional dealers who will help players experience poker at the highest level.
Throughout the two day festival, the sharpest poker minds in the UK will be lecturing to players of all skill levels at the UltimateBet/AbsolutePoker Poker Academy. Those attending include pros Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott, Neil Channing, Marc Goodwin, Nik Persaud, Paul Jackson, as well as author Tony Holden, international celebrity and poker aficionado Montel Williams and one of the game’s newest talents, Liv Boeree. Lectures range from the basics of what it takes to play your first ever game of poker to the pro’s hidden tips on body language, betting patterns and how to beat online poker. Lectures are free of charge and run 20-40 minutes each, with time left over for questions, photos and autographs with the pros.
