El periódico The New York Times ha publicado un informe sobre la nueva red social Twitter y cómo se ha unido con el mundo del póquer.
La nota describe cómo Twitter llega a la industria física del póquer profesional y cita a la estrella de Poker Doyle Brunson de 76 años, quien utiliza Twitter para mandar noticias regulares a todos sus fans mientras juega en la World Series of Poker.“Twitter ha llegado al mundo del Poker y está cambiando la forma en que toda la industria se relaciona con el juego”. Escribe Marshall Kirkpatrick, autor del artículo. Kirkpatrick destaca que en esta edición de la WSOP los eventos cuentan con su propia cobertura mediática que registran juego por juego y mano por mano de cada uno de los torneos. El autor señala que “mucha de esta cobertura ahora se realiza online. Dado que una creciente cantidad de jugadores de Poker están comenzando a enviar mensajes cortos al mundo, vía Twitter. De esta forma, los medios del Poker están siendo perturbados y los sitios de noticias se pelean para poder competir entre si, a causa de la comunicación inmediata y directa que los jugadores tienen con sus fans”.
