El gobierno federal de los EEUU ha acusado a los fundadores de PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker y Absolute Poker de fraude bancario, blanqueo de dinero y juego ilegal.
Un total de cinco nombres de dominio han sido confiscados. Se han dictado medidas cautelares contra más de 75 cuentas bancarias utilizadas por éstas empresas y sus procesadores de pago. Once acusados han sido nombrados por el Departamento de Justicia de ese país: Isai Scheinberg, Raymond Bitar, Scott Tom, Brent Beckley, Nelson Burtnick, Paul Tate, Ryan Lang, Bradley Franzen, Ira Rubin, Chad Elie y John Campos.Según la información divulgada por la dependencia, “los acusados incurrieron en un esquema elaborado de fraude criminal, engañando algunos bancos y llegando a sobornar a otros para asegurar el continuo flujo de miles de millones de beneficios del juego online”. La Directora Adjunta al FBI, JAnice Fedarcyk, afirmó: “Mintieron a los bancos sobre la verdadera naturaleza de su negocio. Después, algunos de los visados intentaron dar forma a la ley a través de sobornos”.
