El ganador del World Series of Poker Main Event del 2008, Peter Eastgate, ha anunciado que planea retirarse del póquer.
En la última entrada en su blog en PokerStars.net, Eastgate ha indicado que no quiere continuar como jugador profesioanl del póquer y que nunca fue su intención: “Cuando comencé a jugar poker de manera profesional nunca pensé en hacer esta actividad por el resto de mi vida. Mi objetivo era ser económicamente solvente y lo conseguí al ganar el evento principal de las WSOP en 2008. Después de eso jugué muchos eventos en vivo, visité muchos lugares y conocí nuevas personas; ha sido una gran experiencia.”“Siento que veinte meses después de mi victoria en el evento principal he perdido toda la motivación para jugar poker de alto nivel y he decidido que es tiempo de saber qué quiero hacer con mi vida. Descansaré de los torneos de poker en vivo y me concentraré en Peter Eastgate, la persona.” Continuó la entrada.Eastgate ganó 9.15 millones de dólares del primer premio del Main Event de la WSOP de 2008. En 2009, ganó un torneo de $5,000 No Limit Hold’em en el PokerStars Caribbean Adventure para llevarse $343,000. El año pasado salió en el lugar 78 del Main Event en defensa de su titulo.
