La meta de la Asociación de Deportes Mentales de Vigo (ADMV) es preparar a sus jogadores del póquer para poder participar en torneos profesionales nacionales e internacionales.
La ADMV consiste de un club de jugadores de póquer y uno de ajedrez. Ya se han inscrito 150 socios, la mayoría para jugar al póquer. Los socios pagan una cuota mensual de 25 euros que les dará acceso a los campeonatos y eventos que organice el club y al uso lúdico de las instalaciones. “En Vigo hay mucha materia prima en este deporte. Nuestra idea es preparar a los jugadores, descubrir talentos y apoyarlos”, explicaron los fundadores de la Asociación al periódico de Vigo y su área metropolitana, el Atlántico Diario. “Somos una asociación sin ánimo de lucro que buscamos promover todo tipo de de actividades relacionadas con deportes mentales”. “Haremos poker desde un tono puramente deportivo”. Explican. Los socios de la Asociación jugarán torneos internos sin apostar dinero y por medio de un sistema de selección mediante ligas y con un ranking, los mejores jugadores recibirán el apoyo para participar en eventos profesionales a nivel nacional e internacional. Los fundadores uieren utilizar su “piloto local” como un modeloe para establecer la primera federación española de jugadores deportivos de poker. “Ya nos pusimos en contacto con la Federación Internacional de Poker (en Suiza) porque en España no hay una organización clara sobre este deporte”.
