WSOPE Main Event Final Table: Players on a break

WSOPE Main Event Final Table: Players on a break

Thursday, 2 October 2008

The opening session of the final table has been about Ivan Demidov. Having taken a decent size pot from one Full Tilt pro in the form of Scott Fischman, Demidov then cut John Juanda's stack in half in the defining pot of the final table so far.

So how does that change the table dynamics? Well, it shows the rest of the table that John Juanda isn't impervious. Demidov's move was bold, and most likely backed up by a big hand, but it has taken the momentum away from Juanda. Now the table are dancing to the Russian's tune.

Ivan DemidovDemidov on the right track.
In the meantime, Daniel Negreanu has been relatively quiet in terms of the pots he's played. It looks like he is trying to bide his time and let the final table sort itself out for a while before he starts making his move.

Finnish player Toni Hiltunen has been relatively quiet, and will need to put his chips into the middle soon. He and Londoner Robin Keston are the two short stacks, and with the blinds kicking up to 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante, it won't be long before we see them making their stand.
