WSOPE Main Event Final Table: More like chess than poker?

Thursday, 2 October 2008

This is looking more and more like a chess match than a poker scrap. Of course, the fact you have two blokes from Moscow duking it out helps the analogy somewhat...

While Ivan Demidov was certainly the one who made all the big moves, Stanislav 'The Anti-Bomber' Alekhin (who, incidentally shares a name with a former chess champion) has been adding to his stack. Demidov is around the 2 million mark, while Alekhin is around 1.8 million. Their nearest competitor is John Juanda, who has fallen to around 900,000.
