WSOP Event 1, Day 2: Twelve Left, Falling Ashtray Nearly Claims One

WSOP Event 1, Day 2: Twelve Left, Falling Ashtray Nearly Claims One

Monday, 22 September 2008

It's tense, for players and rail alike. The clanging of a falling ashtray and a startled Linda Lee proves to be one of the surreal moments this evening.

With the glory in sight, the rail are starting to get as nervous as the players. On one side of the room there's about a dozen of the more boozy supporters perched cheering on the one they have christened 'Danny Boy'. We know they mean Daniel Nutt. While they have told him to pick on "the one in the red t-shirt - he's weak!" (I am sure Neil's heard that one before), the other half of the room has been relatively quiet. Two things of note have happened:

1) Adam Junglen is still smacking his table around using a tower of red 5,000 chips.
2) A very apologetic person railing from the balcony fumbled an ashtray in the direction of an unaware Lee. Not every day that one happens, and no one was hurt.

Should any more projectile objects beseige the final two tables, we will of course let you know.
