WSOP Europe Event 2: Eleven Left in the £2,500 HORSE Event

WSOP Europe Event 2: Eleven Left in the £2,500 HORSE Event

Wednesday, 24 September 2008

Two Phils dominated the chip counts when the players reconvened for the second day of the £2,500 HORSE event. Only one remains now, with Phil Ivey and Howard Lederer two of the big names left in the field of eleven.

Hellmuth had a torrid day, coming across a player he thought might be the worst he has ever come across. Sherkhan Farnood might not have inherited the most endearing of Hellmuth endorsements, but he did inherit his chips after winning a race with pocket threes against the Poker Brat's Ace-King to eliminate the eleven-time bracelet winner just shy of the final table.

So what of those who remain? Howard Lederer is not a player who plays too many tournaments nowadays, but he is showing here why he is still one of the very best players in the world. The patience, composure and cold-blooded calculation of the man they call 'The Professor' has seen him swell his chip stack to 208,500. Sherkhan Farnood is in second with 141,500, while the chip counts of the other nine - including Phil Ivey - are provided below.

Yuval Bronshtein - 133,500
Phil Ivey - 114,500
Jeff Duvall - 112,000
Spencer Lawrence - 88,500
Jeffrey Lisandro - 82,500
Ivo Donev - 78,000
Mark Gregorich - 62,500
Erik Albinsson - 43,000
Raul Paez - 17,500
