paddypowerpoker.com announce Irish Open 2012 and Sole Survivor promo

Thursday, 27 October 2011

The second-oldest poker tournament in the world after the World Series of Poker, the Irish Open has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Sponsored by paddypowerpoker.com, the €3,200 event will return to the Burlington Hotel in Dublin from 6-9 April 2012.

Once again, paddypowerpoker.com are running satellites to the event on the cheap but that’s not the best thing about qualifying to one of the world’s major poker tournaments for less than the price of a pint. The last paddypowerpoker.com qualifier standing wins the ever-popular Sole Survivor promotion, netting themselves a €100,000 prize package.

The first online satellite takes place on Sunday, November 6. The €200 buy-in will award at least two €4,600 packages to the event that cover flights, accommodation and the tournament buy-in. Previous champions of the event include Neil Channing, Marty Smyth and James Mitchell.

"It is always exciting to launch the Irish Open each year, and we hope to make the next one even bigger and better than that of the past. We're launching the online satellites nice and early this year so that people have more time to win their seat at a bargain on paddypowerpoker.com" said Paddy Power, Communications Manager for paddypowerpoker.com.

"Next year there is a big possibility that we will have the 2011 World Series of Poker Champion in attendance - that is, if things go to plan for young Irish player Eoghan O'Dea next month at the final table of the WSOP 2011. We are all routing for you Eoghan!!"
