The second-oldest poker tournament in the world after the World Series of Poker, the Irish Open has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Sponsored by, the €3,200 event will return to the Burlington Hotel in Dublin from 6-9 April 2012.

Once again, are running satellites to the event on the cheap but that’s not the best thing about qualifying to one of the world’s major poker tournaments for less than the price of a pint. The last qualifier standing wins the ever-popular Sole Survivor promotion, netting themselves a €100,000 prize package.

The first online satellite takes place on Sunday, November 6. The €200 buy-in will award at least two €4,600 packages to the event that cover flights, accommodation and the tournament buy-in. Previous champions of the event include Neil Channing, Marty Smyth and James Mitchell.
