Once again the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker absolutely smashed guarantees, with the $1,050 No-Limit Hold ‘em event attracting 1,558 players for a $1,558,000 prize pool – over three times the $500k guarantee.
This guaranteed six figures for the top four players and put the first prize at over a quarter of a million dollars. Team PokerStars PROs Joe Hachem, Barry Greenstein, Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker, Hevad Khan, Katja Thater, and Vanessa Rousso all entered but busted early.
Alexander Gomes, Angel Guillen, Bill Chen, Darus Suharto, Emad Tahtouh, Jason Mercier, and Daniel Negreanu all got a little further but failed to penetrate the money bubble.
The final table eventually looked like this, with two players the clear leaders:

Eventually it came down to these two – XtheDecanoX and skilled_sox squared off over the title, with the former holding a near 4-1 chip lead. Predictably it was soon over – despite doubling up in the first hand, skilled_sox eventually lost out holding two pair to trips.
