Vuki Wins $173,000 in PokerStars Sunday Million

On Sunday, 7,856 players stumped up the wonga to create a prize pool of $1,571,200 for the PokerStars Sunday Million event. Over 1,100 players made it into the money, with the final nine being decided after nine gruelling hours of play.

With blinds at $125k/$250k at the start of the final table, eventual winner Vuki didn’t seem to be the favourite, but was by no means a write-off. A double-up followed by eliminating fifth-place finisher madkins318 saw his stack increase exponentially, but when the final three players cut a deal he was still on the short end of the stick:

After two all-ins and two split pots, vuki finally managed to not only double through but also take the chip lead after getting it in pre-flop with AJo against kiramm’s dominated A7. A blank board shipped the pot to Vuki, who then called the short-stacks shove with QQ against KJ, holding up to take the action heads-up with a near 2-1 chip lead.
Four hands later, it was over – n1nj4.br’s Q6o was in bad shape against pocket sixes, and a king-high board couldn’t help proceedings. The full list of final table finishers and payouts is as follows:
