Viktor “Isildur1” Blom defeats qualifier in mini-showdown

Tuesday, 26 April 2011

The SuperStar Showdown reduced the stakes and adjusted the format for the second time in nine runs this past Sunday with Viktor “Isildur1” Blom beating qualifier “MASTERMIXUS” out of $1,279 over 2,500 hands of $5/$10 NL across four tables.

MASTERMIXUS is the real winner here though; in the adjusted smaller-stakes rules the qualifier keeps whatever amount of the $15,000 bankroll he manages not to lose. In this case, MASTERMIXUS turned a freeroll entry into $14,721 which we’ll count as a win despite the official result.

One of the best hands from the session was when MASTERMIXUS, on an iron-reinforced chair to compensate for his huge brass balls, attempted to out-Isildur1 Isildur1 with a river overbet bluff holding queen high. Blom looked him up with a rivered runner-runner flush and took down the pot.

In total, Blom has played nine SuperStar Showdowns including two smaller events versus qualifiers. He is 6-3 in the scores and up over $350k after defeating the likes of Daniel “jungleman12” Cates, Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer and the newest PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov.
