Tom “durrrr” Dwan – “I should be playing smaller.”

Thursday, 1 April 2010

We recently reported that Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies went at it at the nosebleed PLO tables on Full Tilt. What we didn’t mention is that they weren’t just playing $500/$1,000 but $3,000/$9,000 as they put in an automatic raise and 3-bet before every flop.

With $18,000 in the pot before each flop then it’s no wonder that the swings got so huge. In the end, Dwan won over a million dollars from Sahamies who had been dominating the young American throughout the week.
Dwan wrote on his rarely-updated blog:

"Been awake a while, and [I] played a ton in the last 3 days. I had a pretty awful week of poker before that, where I lost about $1.9m- mainly to Ziigmund, but in the last week I’ve managed to recoup those losses. I’d like to think that the losses had a good amount to do with some bad luck, but I know the wins definitely had to do with good luck.

“I played Ilari at 500/1k where we had to raise and reraise every hand- so before any option the small blind makes it 3k, and the big blind makes it 9k. This is obviously a retardedly [sic] huge game, and both of us should probably be playing at least a little bit smaller. I managed to win about 800k at 3/9 tho [sic]- so it worked out this time."
