Sunday Million final table dominated by massive chip leader

Sunday Million final table dominated by massive chip leader

Wednesday, 15 December 2010

A tournament is never decided before the final table, but when one player arrives around the table of nine with almost half of the 80m chips in play then you know he’s got a decent shot even if he doesn’t have the handreading skills of Daniel Negreanu.

As was the case in the PokerStars Sunday Million this week that saw 8,278 players pay up, qualify for or purchase from the VIP store their $200 entry to the world’s largest weekly poker tournament. The top 1,260 players made the money with notable names such as Barry Greenstein just sneaking into a cash.

When the final table was set, Troopaloop10 had a whopping 35.4m in chips at the 125,000/250,000 blind level; way ahead of his nearest competitor Sirocko who was himself boasting double the stack of the third place player. Inevitably, Troopaloop10 reached the heads-up stages and he had kept his chip lead, now it was more than 4.5-1 over MILIANOS68.

After a well-fought battle that saw MILIANOS68 almost take the lead on two occasions, Troopaloop10 prevailed with a dominating A-T calling his opponent’s all-in holding T-9. Both made top pair but the ace kicker played to seal the deal. Speaking of which, there wasn’t one – Troopaloop10 took all of the $243,543 first prize.

The full final table payouts were as follows:

1.Troopaloop10 ($243,543.53)
2.MILIANOS68 ($177,977.00)
3.waynecoal ($124,170.00)

9.Morfi4 ($12,830.90)
