Two players struck gold on Sunday, taking down the two biggest regular tournaments available online. The PokerStars Sunday Million carries a $1.5m guaranteed prize pool despite the name; the Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Guaranteed regularly exceeds its 3/4m prize pool guarantee.
This week, 7,911 entrants to the PokerStars tournament gave a prize pool of $1,582,200 while 4,288 players lined up for Full Tilt's flagship tournament to create a $857,600 prize pool. Between them, the two winners earned the better part of $400,000.
Heads-up play in the Sunday Million between Sosnoviy and almaty.kz left the latter with some catching up to do as he found himself on the wrong end of a 3-1 chip deficit. Despite doubling up on the very first hand with a flopped set, soon the two got it in - Sosnoviy held KJs and almaty.kz A4s. The board gave Sosnoviy trip jacks to secure him a victory and a massive $236k payday.
