PokerStars high stakes PLO session; Galfond and Sahamies win

Friday, 9 September 2011

PokerStars is the new Full Tilt – no, we don’t mean they’re going to freeze your money, we mean that that’s where the high stakes action is. Last night saw fifteen players rotating in and out of the $200/$400 250bb games at PokerStars’ Omaha tables, shipping six figure stacks for over ten hours.

Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond and Ilari “Ilari_FIN” Sahamies emerged as the biggest winners after this marathon session; the former was up just under $370k while Sahamies left with more than half a million dollars that he didn’t have before. On the flipside, Andreas Torbergsen lost the most with $650k gone – however, he still tops the PokerStars 2011 leaderboard with $1.44m earned.

With this kind of action happening we wonder if PokerStars’ programmers are creating $300/$600 tables as we write?
