PokerStars US-COOP complete; huge overlays cost over $750k

Thursday, 2 December 2010

The PokerStars USA Championship of Online Poker has completed its eleven events in what should have been the biggest Regional COOP that PokerStars is hosting in this period. However, a poor attendance meant that the eleven events saw $764,650 in combined overlays.

Only the first event ($55 NLHE 6-max with rebuys) and the tenth ($320 PLO 1r1a) eclipsed their guarantees; the Omaha event by just $900. Overall, nine events had overlays totalling $764,650 and the rake collected from each tournament totalled just $137,230. This means that the US-COOP actually cost PokerStars $627,420.

Some notable names to come up in the US-COOP rankings were Adam “Roothlus” Levy who final tabled the opening $55 rebuy event; David “gaucho2121” Paredes who took down both the $320 PLO 1r1a and the $215 Heads-Up NLHE for a total of $58,000; Adam “squee451” Sherman who made back-to-back final tables finishing ninth in the $215 NLHE 1r1a and runner-up to Paredes in the $320 PLO.

The UK-COOP begins on December 5 with a $55 rebuy NLHE 6-max event. The series will feature eleven events also culminating in a $530 Main Event. This has a guarantee of $150,000 but judging from the performance of the US-COOP there could be some serious value to be had.

Satellites for all eleven UK-COOP events are running now at PokerStars for as little as $3 or a few FPPs.
