PokerStars SCOOP 2011: Isildur1 gets his soul read

Tuesday, 10 May 2011

The Spring Championship of Online Poker is well underway and we’re already several million dollars into the $25m guarantee set by PokerStars. A lack of US players isn’t putting anyone off, especially since PokerStars moved the events three hours to better accommodate the superior side of the Atlantic.

One hand in particular was worthy of note and it occurred during Event #2 H: $2,100 NL. Viktor “Isildur1” Blom had made it relatively deep into the tournament and the money bubble was approaching. With blinds at 400/800 he 3-bet a button open with 4s-3s and received a call from the button with around 200 big blinds behind.

His opponent, Cesar “caio_pimenta” Pimenta, called flop and turn bets on the 6d-5s-Qs-4d board before Blom made his trademark move on the ace river, shoving his stack in for over twice the size of the pot. It took Pimenta just a few seconds to make the call with 5h-3h for fourth pair, beating Isildur1’s pair of fours and taking a chip lead in the tournament. Pimenta went on to bust in 24th place, good for a cash but not for Day 2.
