Pistons87 wins WCOOP High Roller; Dan Kelly wins 3rd bracelet

Another Sunday, another opportunity to become a millionaire on PokerStars. More so yesterday as the WCOOP is continuing on strongly, with last night being a landmark date in the WCOOP calendar. Most notably, the $10,300 Heads-Up NL High Roller event took place with high stakes Sit ‘n’ Go player Pistons87 taking the honours and $144,000.

A field of 32 players put up five figures to compete in the event with four players guaranteed $48,000; $80,000 for the runner-up and six figures for eventual winner Pistons87. He started off strong by beating SCOOP Heads-Up champion Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier in the opening round before despatching Shawn “buck21” Buchanan after picking up kings against jacks and getting all the money in before the flop. He faced yet another Team PokerStars Pro in the quarter-finals, defeating Maxim Lykov before facing Daniel Negreanu in the semis. He bested Kid Poker before taking on akut, making a final table deal to take $105,000 each with the winner earning an extra $14,000. It was all over midway through the second 30-minute level, with pistons87 sucking out with K-Q against A-Q on a king-high flop.

Meanwhile, Daniel “djk123” Kelly became only the third player to win three WCOOP titles after adding the $109 8-Game bracelet to his 2009 High Roller HORSE championship and his 2009 Razz win. He earned $23,529 for his efforts, culminating in defeating “nilsef” heads-up in Razz by making a T-9 low.
