Phil Ivey wins $900,000 from Daniel Cates and Scott Palmer

Despite many of the high stakes poker world’s major players engaged in either the non-NAPT event in Los Angeles or the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championships in Vegas, the big games on Full Tilt Poker still went strong with Phil Ivey winning over $900,000 in one of his typically short but big sessions.

He took on Daniel “jungleman12” Cates and Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer at $500/$1,000 CAP PLO and in a series of pots capped at $30,000 apiece managed to win the better part of a million dollars from the young duo. Palmer took just 130 or so hands to lose $340,000 and call it a day but Cates was more persistent and lost around a hundred dollars per hand over the course of 600 hands.

Ivey’s online winnings for 2011 are approaching the $2m mark and, according to HSDB, his lifetime online earnings are near $20,000,000. Perhaps he’ll have a party to celebrate?
