Phil Ivey wins $2,000,000 at Full Tilt Poker in August

Thursday, 2 September 2010

It's the end of the month and that means payday. For some of us it's a modest wage but for the regular players online at Full Tilt Poker's nosebleed stakes it means six or seven figures – won or lost.

Phil Ivey, unsurprisingly, tops the leader board with over $2,000,000 profit in August. Daniel “jungleman12” Cates is the only other player to hit the seven-figure mark with $1.1m in winnings; $800,000 or so of which come from the first 7,000 hands of the Durrrr Challenge.

Despite Dwan's loss to Cates he still made it into the top five earners by making $737,000 outside of the Durrrr Challenge. Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond came close to joining Cates and Ivey in the seven-figure club but instead had to settle for $906,000 profit.

On the other end of the spectrum was the (Not So) Great Dane Gus Hansen, who had a torrid August that saw him drop $2.9m and take his lifetime Full Tilt losses to over $9.2m since 2007. Ouch.
