Patrik Antonius down $1.8m for 2010
Wednesday, 3 February 2010

Here’s something you don’t see often – Patrik Antonius, the winningest (yes, that’s a real word) online poker player of all time, is down $1.8m for 2010. We’re only 33 days in, Patrik!

We reported that his former protégé, Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, absolutely destroyed the Finnish Team Full Tilt member in a short session of $300/$600 PLO, taking Antonius for over $800,000.

He then went on to lose $250,000 in two sessions of the durrrr challenge, taking his losses in the 4-tabling extravaganza to a total of over a million dollars. He followed this up over the weekend, dropping a further $220,000 at PLO.

It’s a very high-variance game and even the best in the world can suffer huge downswings, which explains how Antonius is in such dire straits. On Sunday he lost almost $600,000 which takes his 2010 losses to a total of $1,860,000.

You can watch the million dollar swings take place at Full Tilt Poker.
