Isildur1 hits G spot to beat Tony G out of $44,280 – on yer bike!

The second ever PokerStars SuperStar Showdown had many railbirds and players alike licking their chops when it was announced that Tony G would be the next challenger. The loud Australian TV pro is well-known in the poker community and love him or hate him you can’t deny that he is an entertaining figure at the tables.

Never shy of associating with the mysterious Swede that is Isildur1, the G took a leave of absence from home site PartyPoker in order to play Isildur1 at $50/$100 across four tables of heads-up PLO and NL. From the outset it was clear that Isildur1 had the advantage as Tony G’s online experience showed. Playing four heads-up tables is quite difficult.

However, this didn’t stop him taking an early lead and after 561 hands he was up $47,000. The inevitable chatter started from Tony G’s end, asking Isildur1 if he had the heart and commitment to take him on: “u getting owned by a total donk old man... start pressing some all in buttons boy”.

However, Isildur1 was evidently qualified and despite Tony G being up over $80,000 and Isildur1 unable to reload on one table, he soon fought back and was up over $75,000 at the halfway point. Towards the end Tony G clearly made some desperate plays to get even that wound up costing him further, citing side bets as motivation to make the apparently –EV plays. In the end, though, he could not prevail and Isildur1 was up $44,280 with a $180,000 stack on the final table.

With that, Tony G lengthily congratulated Isildur1, commiserated the railbirds who had watched and went off to find his bike.
