Isildur1 Takes On the World's Best With Relentless Aggression

Isildur1 Takes On the World's Best With Relentless Aggression

Monday, 26 October 2009

A mystery player showed up at the high-stakes tables on Full Tilt Poker over the weekend, playing the best that the site had to offer from the $100/$200 stakes upwards. The player, known as Isildur1 and hailing from Sweden, won around $400,000 from Haseeb Qureshi but wound up over half a million down.

The Swede is typically hyper-aggressive, and while this served him well at first it seemed that pros such as Brian Hastings and Patrik Antonius had him at their mercy as they picked off his bluffs with lighter and lighter hands.

The largest pot of the weekend, in fact, was against Brian Hastings when the Lord of the Rings fan set up a triple-barrel bluff. Calling Brian Hastings' 3-bet with K9o in position with 200BBs left behind at $200/$400, the Swede raised Stinger88's $4,800 bet on the JTT flop to $12,600. Hastings called, and Isildur1 bet over $20,000 on the turn before shoving an extra $50,000 on the river of the JTT2A board. Hastings snapped him off with AQ, taking a $181,000 pot.
